STONINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A driver was left severely injured after a crash in the area of Route 184 and Route 201 in Stonington early Wednesday morning, police said.

Police said at around 5:41 a.m., officials were called for a reported single-car crash with an entrapment.

The driver was extricated and was transported to Hartford Hospital via Life Star with life-threatening injuries. The passenger sustained minor injuries but refused transport, police said.

Route 184 remains closed while police investigate.
