BLOOMINGTON -- An Anchor man is in McLean County custody on a drug-induced homicide charge after authorities said the cocaine he sold caused another man's death.
Corey Campbell, 32, is charged with drug-induced homicide, a Class X felony; unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, with 1-15 grams of cocaine, a Class 1 felony; and unlawful possession of a Schedule III narcotic with intent to deliver, a Class 2 felony.
Campbell appeared in court Tuesday afternoon for an initial appearance before Judge William Yoder, during which Assistant State's Attorney Jeff Horve filed a petition to detain.
Defense attorney Stephanie Wong asked the judge for a continuance in Campbell's detention hearing, noting her office had received the "voluminous" amount of discovery in this case about an hour before Tuesday's hearing.

The judge agreed but asked Horve to provide the probable cause statement before ending the hearing.
On Nov. 24, Colfax officers and McLean County deputies responded to the 100 block of North Center Street in Colfax for a call reporting cardiac arrest, Horve said.
Upon arrival, police and paramedics found 25-year-old Dawson Boner of Forrest. Paramedics attempted to perform life-saving measures, but their efforts were unsuccessful; Boner was pronounced dead.
A woman, who identified herself as Boner's girlfriend, told police Boner appeared to have seizure after using cocaine provided by Campbell, Horve said.
She told police Boner had bought an "eight ball," or one-eighth ounce of cocaine, for $200. One-eighth ounce is more than 3 grams of cocaine, the prosecutor noted.
During their investigation, police found, from 4 to 5 a.m., 20 messages had been sent between Campbell and Boner, making arrangements for Boner to come to Campbell's residence to buy the drugs, Horve said.
Boner asked if the defendant could "front" the cocaine, so Boner could pay for it later, but ultimately, the woman paid Campbell $200 through a mobile payment app for the drugs, Horve said.
Colfax police also obtained video that confirmed the timeline, showing the woman's car traveling at 5:08 a.m. and arriving Campbell's address at 5:15 a.m.
Upon searching the residence, police found a substance that appeared to be cocaine next to where Boner was when first responders arrived. There was less than a gram left of the cocaine he had purchased from Campbell.
It was sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab in Morton, where the substance was confirmed to be cocaine.
Horve said autopsy results determined Boner's cause of death was cocaine intoxication.
After probable cause was established, Yoder set Campbell's detention hearing for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, during the daily Pretrial Fairness Act hearings.
