NOTRE DAME, Ind. (WSBT) -- Notre Dame men's basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry provided an update this week on star point guard Markus Burton, saying he's getting better as every day goes by.
But there's no timeline for his return.
Burton suffered an MCL injury that did not require surgery in late November, after averaging just over 21 points, five rebounds and five assists before going down.
The Irish are 3-4 since his injury.
"We're gonna err on the side of caution with him, but he's doing good stuff," Shrewsberry said. "You can see progress on a daily basis. I know one thing: I know he's tired of not playing. If you would ask him, he probably would've played tonight, but it's not up to him. But he is making progress."
The Irish have a nice break to give Burton more time to recover.
They won't hit the floor until Jan. 4 when the North Carolina Tar Heels come to town.
