The Last Showgirl might be ushering in a new era of Pamela Anderson's career, as she hints that some high-profile directors might have reached out to her. While most audiences might associate Pamela Anderson with the hit television show Baywatch, she has earned critical acclaim for her role in Gia Coppola's The Last Showgirl. Anderson earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama and seems to be in consideration for a possible Academy Award nomination.
That awards momentum points at Pamela Anderson having a new boom in her long, storied career, and audiences might see a lot more of her. Anderson told Variety that she has heard from "a lot of great directors" following the premiere of The Last Showgirl but didn't name any specific names and said, "It's exciting because I want to keep working." Anderson opened up about the feeling of being a Golden Globe nominee as well and how it feels to be in the same conversation as many actors and directors she has admired. She said:
"It's all so surreal. Sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night and I'm like, 'I'm a Golden Globes nominee - how did that happen? It's getting better, but it's still a little hard to walk into these rooms and see people who you've admired for so long. You put out your hand, shake their hand, and have a conversation. It's scary and hard, but it's exciting. I'm challenging myself to do that."
Anderson's next project is The Naked Gun, a sequel to the popular Naked Gun franchise, where she will star opposite Liam Neeson. She is also attached to the thriller Rosebush Pruning, where she will star opposite Riley Keough, Callum Turner, Elle Fanning, and Jamie Bell. It wouldn't be surprising to see Anderson become attached to more films, including some high-profile titles, within the coming months.
Pamela Anderson's Exciting Future Close
Anderson's career resurgence has been building over the past few years, thanks to her role as Roxie Hart in the Broadway show Chicago and her documentary Pamela, A Love Story. The Pamela Anderson renaissance has seemingly been upon us for some time, but with The Last Showgirl finally hitting theaters in limited release in December 2024 before going wide in January 2025, it feels like a real cultural shift. After years of being overlooked and dismissed, it is great to hear directors taking her seriously.

There are plenty of directors and projects with which Anderson would be great to work. While most fans might naturally assume a big franchise role could be on the cards, it is more fascinating to think of which directors could have reached out to Anderson. Steven Spielberg's been assembling the cast for his next untitled UFO movie that already features Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. Anderson would certainly make for a great addition to that cast. After working with Gia Coppola, it would be great to see Anderson work with either Sofia Coppola or her father, Francis Ford Coppola. Even if Anderson doesn't win any award for The Last Showgirl, the attention she has received for it will likely draw in some exciting projects.
