Patriots Hall Of Famer Notes 'Crazy Part' Of Mike Vrabel Hiring

Kevin Faulk was not surprised to see fellow Patriots Hall of Famer Mike Vrabel named the organization's next head coach.

Faulk saw Vrabel's knowledge and work ethic firsthand during their eight seasons together in New England. Faulk, who played 13 seasons with the Patriots (1999-2011), won three Super Bowls with Vrabel, who spent eight seasons playing in Foxboro, Mass.

The legendary running back joined NESN's "Foxboro Rush" podcast on Sunday afternoon, shortly after the Patriots made the hiring official. Faulk spoke with NESN's George Balekji and Travis Thomas and shared he knew Vrabel would be a successful head coach dating back to their practices together.

"I wasn't surprised, not at all," Faulk said on the podcast. "It would have been a surprise to me if he didn't take the job. I know how he feels about the organization, I know how he feels about the program.

"Crazy part is, playing with Mike Vrabel you knew Mike Vrabel was going to be a coach somewhere, at some point when he was done playing football," Faulk continued. "Because he was such a smart football player on the football field."
