North Carolina QB Jacolby Criswell entering NCAA transfer portal

North Carolina quarterback Jacolby Criswell is on the move again.

The QB is entering the transfer portal for the 3rd time in his career, per a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel. Criswell will have 1 year of eligibility remaining at his new school.

Criswell played in 12 games for the Tar Heels in 2024. The QB threw for 2,459 yards with 15 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Criswell also rushed 103 yards and 3 scores on the year.

2024 was Criswell's 4th season overall with the Tar Heels. The QB began his college career in Chapel Hill in 2020 and played in 14 games over 3 seasons. After the 2022 season, Criswell transferred to Arkansas.

At Arkansas, Criswell appeared in 4 games and threw for 143 yards and 3 TDs. After failing to secure a starting gig, however, Criswell again entered the portal after 2023 and decided to return to his original school in North Carolina.

Criswell was originally beaten out for the starting job in 2024 by transfer QB Max Johnson. However, Johnson unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury in the Tar Heels' first game of the season and Criswell was thrust into the role.

As the starter in 2024, Criswell led the Tar Heels to a 6-7 record and an appearance in the Pinstripe Bowl. Criswell's best passing performance came against James Madison when the QB threw for 475 yards and 3 TDs.

Before college, Criswell starred for Morrilton High School in Morrilton, AR. The 247Sports Composite ranking had Criswell as a 4-star prospect and the No. 2 player out of Arkansas in the 2020 class.
