Connecticut Bond Commission approves over $300M in new projects

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- The Connecticut Bond Commission on Friday approved more than $300 million in new projects during its last meeting of 2024.

Those projects include $10 million for improvement at the University of Connecticut's Gampel Pavilion and $40 million for new doors and windows at the prison in Somers.

However, a new, shared offshore wind project was not approved. Gov. Ned Lamont said that the state is reaching out for other ways to boost Connecticut's power capacity.

"We took a pass on this round, but, as you know, we are the state right now that is building out Revolution Wind that's going to turn on in about a year and a half," Lamont said. "We contracted for solar coming down from Maine. That gets going in about a year or two."
