Neighbors in shock after shooting ends with two dead

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) -- A 911 call from two teenagers ends with four people shot, two dead.

Officers responded to the home near Hefner and Rockwell around 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Police tell News 4 they were met with gunfire by the suspect. Neighbors were in disbelief after hearing what happened, saying it's usually a quiet neighborhood.

A cry for help from a kid on a 911 call broke that silence, leaving an eerie feeling for those who live close by.

"... child on the phone said dad had a machete, another child said dad had a gun, dad's not supposed to be there."

That was from the call made to 911 Friday afternoon, from the children inside of the northwest Oklahoma City home.

"... can hear a male in the background yelling at them, a female saying please, a child saying sorry."

When officers arrived there, police say they were immediately met with gunfire.

"Officers arrived as they approached the home," said Capt. Valerie Littlejohn, with Oklahoma City Police Department. "They were ambushed by the suspect. One of the officers did get hit by the suspect's gunfire as well. That officer was transported to an area hospital and is going to be okay."

Two officers returned fire, shooting and killing the suspect.

Inside of the home, police found two others who had been shot by the suspect.

"Both of them were transported to area hospitals," Littlejohn said. "One of those victims did die there at the hospital. The other one is in stable condition."

Police say both of those victims appear to be teenagers. Neighbors telling News 4 they are in shock.

"It's been very peaceful," Joshua Wheeler, neighbor said. "I actually kind of moved away to get away from some noise. So, yeah, a little shocking to come out here and see this."

Now, grieving relatives and friends are left trying to comprehend why this happened, especially so close to Christmas.

"My heart goes out to everybody," Wheeler said. "You know, everyone's gonna be affected, obviously, in the neighborhood, much less the families and, you know, relatives."

This is an on-going investigation, News 4 will provide updates when more information becomes available.
