Multiple wildfires have pushed tens of thousands of residents to flee their homes, and strong winds have exacerbated the emergency, officials say.

Wildfires continued to blaze Friday across the Los Angeles area in Southern California, killing at least 10 people and destroying numerous homes, schools and commercial buildings.

The widespread fires -- which have consumed an area nearly the size of the entire city of San Francisco -- have led to some 130,000 people being put under evacuation orders.

No cause has been identified for the largest fires. Dry conditions and strong winds have made it difficult to fight the fires.

The Palisades fire is already the most destructive wildfire in Los Angeles history.
