The Ducks will look to bounce back from a 6-0 shellacking last night at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers. It was their second consecutive poor showing and the second consecutive game in which they allowed six goals.
"I mean, this sucks," Ryan Strome said after the game. "We felt really good about ourselves ten days ago, two weeks ago, three weeks ago and now we kind of feel like (crap). So, you've got to try to move forward and correct the things that are wrong and learn from them. It's the only way to only way to do it in this league and I think if you look at where we are in the standings, we're still ahead of the Flyers and it didn't feel like it tonight. We've done a lot of good things. We've got to keep going and learn from these stinkers."
"(The Flyers) played harder, they played faster and they won puck battles," head coach Greg Cronin said. "We get out of the first period and it's 2-0. I think the second period was an even period. I thought, 'OK, it's terrible they got the third goal off a wide shot because then you're in the game and we've come back all season down 2-0."
The Hurricanes are coming off a 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Jan. 10. Tonight, they will honor former captain Eric Staal with a jersey retirement ceremony. His brother and current Hurricanes captain, Jordan, is two points away from 700 career points.
Troy Terry did not travel with the team to Philadelphia, remaining at home after his wife, Dani, recently gave birth to their second child. It is unknown at this time whether he will play tonight.
With John Gibson starting last night against the Flyers, Lukáš Dostál is expected to man the pipes for the Ducks tonight in Raleigh.
